Pencil Sketchings

Pencil Sketch – A Wish

Moments I would like to remember:

I promised a sketch for my cousins B’ day a year back, well, I did it only now for her house warming function 😀 I can sense her baring teeth 😀  But wow, this work took lot of my effort and I hope she and her family will like it :). Plenty of things have happened in span of 4 to 6 months since my last post, some memories are sweet and some are bitter. And it bound to happen with everyone’s life isn’t it. Met few wonderful people and got contacts of some of my old friends (courtesy, Facebook :D), explored few art mediums, travelled to several places, learnt few dishes for cooking ;), furnished my house, got lot of nose-cuts (which always happens with me, with the kind of memory I have :D), enjoyed few good movies, etc. etc.. Have undergone lot of transformation as an individual and made it as a habit to visit my grandparents whenever possible.

One of the sad parts of life is, people gets older and eventually leave this world (which can’t be avoided). Well, it’s always been compensated with new dear ones coming into life, but some cannot be replaced. Grandparents are one such and every one of us might have had tons of lovable moments with them. My grandparents got older now, so it just feels like to spend much time with them when they are here, rather than feeling about all the missed moments later. Between I tried to write staff selection commission exam, but only to know how terrible I’m in GK 😀

I was thinking about several concepts before starting this work and settled with one which resolves around my cousin’s family. I have a sketch book with me where I use to scribble several design patterns and decided to use some of those in this work. It took 3 weeks to complete (did some full nights too out of involvement :D, can’t help you know ;)) and while sketching, accidentally discovered few effects which I’m planning to use in next work :D. I could have done little better in few areas. Nevertheless, I like this work of mine and hope you all will 🙂

Art Concept

Concept is simple, my cousin has a younger sister and I want to wish them to live happily ever. Made that wish as an art (that’s the title too) 🙂 it’s a concept that involves her family. Below is the concept, as a poem.

P.S:  I have never written an English poem before so please bear :D, use to write lot of Tamil Poems though :).

Be it day, be it night
your beloved ones are always there.
Mom is home; Mom gives shelter;
makes you comfort that none can match.
Dad is there like a tree
wind or flood, will wipe them out.
Elders are there like a sun
with their blessings all day long.
A guy with charm like a moon
Gonna make you his life, it’s not so far.
Friends are here like the flowers
some stay close; will play along
some stay far; yet shower their love
treasures for you, never let them go.
You two girls live the life;
Keep yourself so happy;
like this day, life so long.

Pencil Sketch – Twilight

Moments I would like to remember:

Drawing a picture for my blog quite after some time (more than 2 months I guess). In between, I have sketched and gifted some portraits of my friends and their kids. Their reactions were priceless. It was full of emotions and it made me feel like I could do something with this talent. Making our dear ones happy with what we have got will always give immense pleasure, isn’t it. I have earned some wonderful memories 🙂

My interest has shifted a bit during this time and I have written (tried to 😀 ) lot of Tamil poems which I’m planning to post in a different blog 🙂 Apart from that had to do tons of work in office (even a small work will look like a tower, but really got rocketing works this time 😦 sad 😦 ) and managed to complete it 🙂 Have travelled a lot, met lot of my relatives, spent some time with my family, had a wonderful chat with one of my uncle who is a good photographer and got an opportunity to see his works which were really awesome, and lot more activities. Though there is not much change in my life style, it’s surprising that how much one can learn and experience in a month or two. Life indeed is a sea!

I was planning to sketch a close view of leaves, but this picture pushed it aside and occupied my mind 🙂 This is a coconut tree nearby my house. It was an evening and rain has just stopped with dim light of sun here and there. While I was enjoying the scenery, happened to see this coconut tree. This tree being alone looked beautiful to my eyes on that evening. Immediately, I have decided to give a try and it took about an hour to sketch this. Hope you all will enjoy this work of mine.

Happy Diwali :):):) and cheers!

Pencil Sketch – Ardhanarishvara

Moments I would like to remember:

Before I have started working on this new painting I have planned to take the sketches that I have done so far to my home.  I was having 4 paintings and I have decided to take everything to home in a single go (which I realized how bad an idea later on 😀 ). Somehow I managed to tie everything in a single package with help of my Bro (roommate) and it felt little heavy to carry. Still, with some stupid courage I have taken it with me itself instead of going for a courier service (I was worried that it may get damaged).

While traveling it felt as if I’m doing weight lifting all the way 😀 I would have felt lot happier if my muscles got little bulged with that effort though, because immediately after reaching home first word my mom said was “Look at you, you lost some weight, aren’t you eating properly there”. I was like 😦  I wonder whether mom’s are always like this. Even if I will weight in 80s, I think still she will say I lost some weight ^o). Whatever!!! I felt lot happier for seeing her after a month. Got myself refreshed and had a good breakfast of my mom’s preparation. Later, everyone sat in hall and had a look at the paintings. It was fun and that weekend booked a place in my memory book 🙂

About this new painting, I wanted to do this on a bigger sheet and went for an A1 size white chart. Since the sheet is bigger, I felt it will take few weeks to complete the work and it will be tough to maintain the chart without any damage that long. Hence I have taken it to a photo frame shop, where shop owner (who is my friend now, and I simply call him as “Anna” means Brother in Tamil language 🙂 ) glued that chart to a chart board, then he told me to put some weight over it for all night otherwise it will get bend.  I just kept it under the bed with some weight over (it was me 😉 ) for all night and the chart is ready by morning.

It was a weekend when I started to paint this picture, and I did the borders first for this one. I was spending at least 4 hours a day for sketching this and it kept coming :). It just felt as if I’m playing a video game where the targets are kept coming and I have to hit it all. Meanwhile, I have grown very dense beard and my colleagues started mocking me to get a nice Kurta and Jolna bag hence I’ll give a good artist look :D. At least that’s how some of the yester year movies have portrayed the Artists (I had to trim it though, since my birthday came on Aug 10th 😀 )

This picture took nearly a month and I had to be lot patient to complete this work. On my opinion, it came really good. Hope this art will give same feel for you too 🙂

Happy Independence Day :):):) and cheers!

Pencil Sketch – Lord Ganesha : A ride on his chariot

Title Picture:

Moments I would like to remember:

I have a habit of doing pencil sketches during night time. I just started to sketch the outlines for this picture by then and got so curious to see this one fully completed. It made me to sit for an entire Friday night and I just ended up in still doing the outlines 😦 I was walking like a drunkard out of sleep, it was 5 A.M. and I intensely prayed to god that no one should ring my phone before 11 or 12 noon, and fell asleep. To my agony I got a phone call around 7:30 AM itself and I was like “What the ‘beep’!” 😉 Well! Got a call for one of my office works, so was not able to yell at 😀 And hope most of you know how the climate will be at Chennai. I don’t have an Air conditioner in my rental house and I don’t know why sun is so mad at us, ‘Chennaites’. I couldn’t sleep again since it was hot by then, so got up from the bed and started doing my routine works.

It was evening, sun has set and I was playing games in my laptop. I got this crazy idea to sit for another night and complete the picture, so started doing the painting. I felt happy that the picture is coming good, got pumped up and was really enjoying it. All of a sudden, I felt some light flashing on my face hence got up from my bed in a hurry. It was my roommate turning on the light 😉 Just realized I was dreaming all these time like I have continued to paint, but Instead! I was just sleeping over my laptop. Thank god, I haven’t broke my laptop and Thankk goddd!!! I haven’t married yet 😉 Well, who knows what would have happened if my wife see me sleeping like that. It would be a thrill, but I don’t want to know it now ;). Kept the laptop aside with my dozing face, gave some glare to my drawing board and book for sometime, then went to bed and had good sleep 😀 I have completed this picture in subsequent days and had some really good moments with this picture. I love this work of mine and hope you will also enjoy it 🙂

Cheers!

Regarding this title, well! I have to hand it to my little sis again. Wonder how she is doing that. I just told her that this is the pic I did sis (on a phone call), and the moment I hung the phone I’m receiving a text message from her. The title is “Lord Ganesha: A ride on his chariot”. You are amazing dear 🙂 I wanna beat you in this department one day 😉

Pencil sketch – Gratitude to Divinity

Title Picture:

Story Behind:

While renovating our house, me and my sister came up with this idea of drawing some good paintings and hang up in walls. I thought of drawing some traditional indian pictures and found this pattern in internet. I showed it to my friends and they felt it will be awesome if I pull this one, and I just decided to give it a try. The pattern I took was not that clear hence I had to fill up my ideas in between. It took me 4 days (8 hours approximately a day) to complete this and wow, it came good! It was an awesome experience in drawing this one and thanks to my little sister for giving it a title (“Gratitude to Divinity”).
